Industries
The industries and cities are where the action in the game is. This is where you are given goods to transport and where you can transport goods to.
There are more than 60 different kinds of industry – from raw material suppliers to the manufacturers of end-user goods – to make sure that there are always lots of new and interesting things for you to do.
If you regularly deliver goods to a factory or pick up the factory's products, it will thrive and be able to increase its production.
Then again, factories might have to shut down because no raw materials are delivered to them or because nobody picks up their products.
If demand is high, a factory will be ready to pay a higher price for the transport of their goods over a certain period of time. This might be a good opportunity to connect even remote industries to your transport network.
Depending on the difficulty level, dealing with industries can sometimes be rather complicated. In the easy game mode you can deliver goods endlessly and always get a fair price for your service. In the more difficult game mode, however, you will have to keep an eye on how much the goods are in demand. If you deliver too much of them, you will not be paid your full freight rate. And if you deliver too much of the raw materials, the purchaser will say, "Okay, we'll buy the stuff, but we won't pay for the transport.“
This is an example of what a complete transport chain might look like.
Iron ore is taken from an ore mine to a steel works. Once there, it will be worked into steel and after that be taken to a tool factory, where the steel is made into tools. The tools are then taken to the cities to be sold to the end-users.
